Meet the Characters

Discover the unique characters who drive our story forward. Each has a distinct role and brings their own flair to the narrative.

Character Profiles

Black Void is a character driven story. Each character plays a vital role in the story line.
Heroine

Dr. Andrea Coster

An experimental physicist at the University of Cambridge in England, and granddaughter of Lise Meitner, who taught physics in Germany and pioneered nuclear fission in the 1940s.

Dr. Coster has worked with some of the most brilliant minds in physics, including Stephen Hawking, Edward Witten, Alan Guth, and Peter Higgs. She’s also known as a strong team builder with incredible attention to detail.

Dr. Greene

Dr. William Greene

Dr. Greene is one of the most prominent theoretical physicists in the world. It is his theories that the team goes to CERN to prove and study. Dr. Greene believes it is possible to create a micro black hole by introducing greater mass to the ALICE experiment.

Dr. Greene is also known for being notoriously difficult to work with and lacking social skills, as well as the ability to see the world from anyone else’s point of view.

Hero

Jack Agnew

The liaison assigned by CERN to ensure the team gets everything they need to ensure success.

Jack was also a Royal Marine who had spent time in the SAS. He is a war hero who suffers from some form of PTSD.

Hacker

Petra Neumann

A renowned computational physicist with dual PhDs from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. Dr. Neumann is responsible for building algorithms used during the experiment and the simulations before the actual event.

Dr. Neumann also has a dark web persona, Spydr. Spydr is known as a modern-day Robin Hood, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. Spydr founded the hacking collective Enlighten.

The Team

The team is crucial to the work at CERN. Each member has a unique role and plays an integral part in our story.

Dr. Franklin Kendyl

Dr.  Kendyl is a renowned physicist from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). He is openly skeptical of Dr. Greene’s theories and work.

Dr.  Kendyl was recruited by the Fairmont Foundation to be part of this team and to challenge any assumptions, ensuring the research is sound before experimenting.

Dr. Krause is a materials scientist and the primary engineer on the project. He is responsible for examining the physical properties of materials at the atomic and molecular levels and determining if the experiment alters their composition or mass.

Sam Blum is an experimental physicist from the Universite Paris Saclay. Blum was added to the team to create additional bandwidth for Dr. Coster.

Having two experimental physicists allows for increased efficiency, cross-validation of data, and a wider range of expertise.

Luka Jung holds dual master’s degrees in engineering and physics from Stanford University. He is working on his doctorate in physics.

Luka is a late addition to the team, pushed on them by the Fairmont Foundation. His role is to help coordinate daily activities.

Fairmont Foundation

The Fairmont Foundation

William Fairmont founded the Fairmont Foundation in 1927 with a mission to fund academic research—specifically in the areas of mathematics, engineering, and science—to further the progress of mankind and uplift society.

On the surface, the Fairmont Foundation is a scientist’s best friend, but below the surface, there is a dark side to the organization.

Understanding our characters is key to experiencing their journeys.
